Budget before looking at phones? Yes! 

Why: Every $100 more you spend on a phone will provide incremental upgrades. By deciding on your budget now, you won't get sucked into the vicious cycle of seeing the phone for $100 more, then the phone $100 more than that. Stick to your budget to avoid buyer's remorse and spending more than you should be. 

Take 2 minutes: 

• Acknowledge how much  you rely on your phone. Does it make sense to spend a good amount of your funds on a phone, or do you not use your phone much and can spend less? 

• Look at your bank account, look at your upcoming expenses. Realistically, what's the most you could spend without breaking the bank?
